Many are allowing leave to roll over but what will this mean when Covid restrictions are lifted?
As employers, shouldn’t we be encouraging staff to take their allotted holidays to avoid burn out?
It is not always easy for managers to spot the signs of burn-out when their staff are working from home, but it is important for mental health that time is taken for holidays and relaxation. There is a danger that staff feel every day is the same and making the distinction between work and home life has the potential to cause stress when remote working.
Balance this against the risk of managing competing holiday requests by staff wishing to access cheap flights when travel restrictions are lifted and the risk of being under-staffed at critical times.
As a small business, we have continued to focus on our employees’ health and well-being and have encouraged staff to take holidays and to get out in the fresh air and take time away from their work stations and PCs. Equally we feel it is important to make sure holiday plans are in place to help the business to focus as we come out of lockdown.
We have a duty to highlight the benefits to our staff of taking their holidays regardless of whether they are able to go away or not.
We’d love to hear your views on holidays during lockdown and your plans as we emerge…
