As the youngest of 4 siblings, I continue to work in my 60s, as does my sister, a nurse who has resumed her career during the pandemic, and a brother who is approaching his 78th birthday this month! As a Fellow of the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development) and an exponent of mature working, I am pleased to share the CIPD’s latest news on age-inclusive recruitment...
The CIPD reports that:
- 76% of employers in England agree that older workers’ experience is crucial to the success of an organisation.
- 79% state that older workers help in knowledge and skill sharing.
“Now is the time for organisations to take advantage of the benefits of age-inclusive recruitment and people management practices. Based on the Centre for Ageing Better’s Good Recruitment for Older Workers (GROW) project findings, this guide, published in partnership with the Centre for Ageing Better and REC, is designed to provide practical suggestions for employers to become more age-inclusive.”
Take a look at this very useful guide which offers 5 key actions for employers to adopt to make their recruitment more age-inclusive: Good Recruitment for Older Workers (GROW) | Centre for Ageing Better (ageing-better.org.uk)
