5 reasons why I chose the world of work over going to university
After completing my induction week here at JSD, I have gained a fascinating insight into the thriving world of Executive Search and taken a closer look into how JSD operates. I have begun to understand my responsibilities that my role will entail from when I begin full time work, starting in September. I have also experienced first-hand the inner workings of a search consultancy, and how my role is critical to the success of the work that we do. In my job as a Resource Assistant, I will be working closely with Consultants Tom Hill and Nicky Murray, sourcing the best possible candidates for our clients, expanding our networks across food and Biotech, and ensuring that we provide a professional and brilliant service for our clients.
Although I have only recently completed my induction week (amid the hottest week in history), I can already see why I chose to remain on the Wirral and begin my first role at JSD Consulting. Here are my top 5 reasons for entering the world of work rather than going to university:
- Learning potential – by staying on the Wirral and working with JSD there is a fantastic opportunity to further develop my knowledge and interest in the food and biotech industries, learning from the experts in the industry! There is also still potential for further education after A levels.
- Challenge – I am always looking for a challenge, and what better place than the exciting world of Executive Search. I will also be undertaking my level 2 recruitment apprenticeship which will equip me with the skills to be successful in my new role.
- Experience - gaining your first role in industry can always be daunting, so working with the lovely team at JSD this week has confirmed that this was a great decision.
- Time - by working and living at home, I have the time to figure out my career aspirations and decide whether to go to university and what to study. Learning about opportunities across a range of industries in my role will help to further my understanding about the recruitment industry. This extra time will make a significant difference in my career.
- Let’s face it, earning potential! No need to worry about student debt in a full-time role.
